Within the last few years Barcelona has developed quite a brunch scene.  Certain venues are super popular, with long queues forming at the doors. So, where can you get the best eggs benedict or the best granola fruit bowl. I’ve created a list of the best places for brunch in Barcelona:

Location: C/ d’Enric Granados, 19

Must try dish: Avocado on toast with poached eggs

First on our list of the best brunch places in Barcelona is Brunch & Cake. With a name like that, you can be sure what they specialise in. That’s right, all day brunch options and sweet treats. This is one of the most popular brunch venues in Barcelona. I’ve never walked passed and not seen a queue. Waited in the queue myself, and I can confirm it’s worth the wait. Pancakes, eggs, bacon and their beautifully colourful fruit & granola bowls.

2. Garage Coffee

Location: Carrer de Joan Gamper, 13

Must try dish: Eggs benedict with crispy bacon

Visit Website

I visited this café for a morning coffee, but couldn’t resist ordering some brunch after seeing the menu. They have a wonderful selection of toasts, eggs, salad bowls, pancakes and more. Located in a quiet street in Les Corts, it has a nice vibe. More chilled out than the other brunch venues on this list. I can highly recommend the eggs benedict, the crispy bacon is on point, or the avocado toast with ham and cheese.  For the best brunch in Barcelona, this should definitely be on your list.

3. Eixampeling Brunch Café & Bar

Location: C/ de la Diputació, 158

Must try dish: Pancake My Eyes Of You

Visit Website

Certainly one of the prettiest brunch locations in Barcelona is Eixampeling Brunch Café & Bar, close to Urgell metro station. The venue is decorated with plastic flowers everywhere. And the colourful theme continues with the actual food itself. Eggs, bacon, pancakes and even breakfast nachos, in bright pinks, blues and greens. There’s lots of drinks to choose from too. Juices, cocktails and coffees, like the marshmallow latte. I’d wanted to visit here for a while, and can now confirm it’s definitely fun and one of the best brunch places in Barcelona. On top of that, my chocolate pancakes were delicious.

4. Barcino Food Brunch

Location: C/ del Comte d’Urgell, 222

Must try dish: Pastrami Sandwich

Visit Website

My latest brunch discovery in Barcelona is the delightful BARCINO FOOD BRUNCH, located close to Hospital Clinic. While they do have eggs benedict, it’s the other more exciting dishes why I really recommend this place. Like, the crunchy PASTRAMI SANDWICH with cheddar cheese, sauerkraut & honey mustard, to name just a few of the ingredients, or the BBQ PULLED PORK TACOS with coriander & sour sauce. On top of that, the menu also includes a couple of KOREAN dishes, burgers, bagels, pancakes and one of the best FRENCH TOASTS I’ve had in Barcelona. Not forgetting to mention homemade juices and a fantastic sweet CHAI TEA.

5. Picnic

Location: C/ del Comerç, 1

Must try dish: Eggs benedict with bacon

Visit Website

This corner restaurant located next to Ciutadella Park has been successfully offering options for the best brunch in Barcelona since it opened in 2010.  Still going strong today they have a nice selection of varied options, like avocado toast with poached eggs, smoked short ribs, great pork tacos, and in my opinion one of the best eggs benedict in Barcelona.

6. Elsa y Fred Gastrobar

Location: Carrer del Rec Comtal, 11

Must try dish: Scrambled eggs with chistorra sausage

Visit Website

It’s a weekend thing at Elsa y Fred’s.  That’s when they do their brunch option, one of the best in Barcelona, between 9am-4pm. It’s become a bit of an institution among the well informed. The menu is extensive from pastries to pancakes. Four types of eggs benedict to yogurts & bowls and much more. This being a gastro bar, the drinks options are plenty.

7. Citizen Café

Location: Pl. d’Urquinaona, 4

Must try dish: Pulled pork sandwich

Visit Website

Citizen Café is another of the best brunch spots in Barcelona that fills up quickly, especially at weekends. It has a sleek design with a brick wall interior.  This is a brunch venue where you can go big. Big on burgers, pulled pork sandwiches, veggie burgers, pancakes and classic egg dishes and more. This is a brunch venue to turn up to hungry.

8. The Egg Lab

Location: C/ de Sepúlveda, 80

Must try dish: Korean chicken benedict

Visit Website

The Egg Lab is an all day brunch venue in Sant Antoni. They have a number of tasty options like egg and bacon rolls or French toast with caramelized bananas. But, their main selling point, and the reason they’re on our list of best brunches in Barcelona, is eggs benedict with flavours from around the world. For example, eggs benedict with Korean chicken, smoked pulled pork, or Alaskan eggs benedict with truffle and salmon.

9. Bristol Café

Location: Carrer de Roger de Flor, 220

Must try dish: Avocado toast with poached egg and cream cheese

Visit Website

Located close to Antoni Gaudí’s, as yet unfinished, Sagrada Familiar, is Bristol Cafe. A restaurant specialising in brunch, like eggs benedict and avocado toast. They also have a wonderful and extensive selection of homemade cakes, including key-lime pie. Word of warning though, it does get very busy at weekends, and service can be a little slow. Arrive early or be prepared to wait. Chances are you’ll be glad you did.

10. The Benedict

Location: Carrer d’en Gignàs, 23

Must try dish: Eggs benedict Ibéricos

Visit Website

The Benedict was one of the first venues to bring brunch to Barcelona back in 2013. As is the case with most of the best places for brunch in Barcelona, queues can often be seen forming at the entrance. Like the name suggests, they have a wide selection of different eggs benedict’s to choose from including with chorizo sausage, ham and salmon. Also, mimosas and a variety of cocktails are available in this eclectically designed restaurant.

11. Eatmytrip

Location: C. del Consell de Cent, 378

Must try dish: Strawberry cheesecake French toast

Visit Website

Eatmytrip is one of the top brunch spots in Barcelona, with influences from trips around the world. For example, the Thai curried eggs benedict or the Korean sweet potatoes with kimichi. You can still get your bacon, pancakes, avocado toast and even a strawberry cheesecake French toast.  Dishes are put together creatively ready for that instagram photo. This is another one of those venues where you’ll more than likely have to queue for a bit, but from my experience it’s worth the wait.
