The first to feature in our list of the best English breakfasts in London is Hawksmoor. Famous for they’re steaks, they also have an incredible breakfast selection at their Guildhall branch. The Full English for two to share is so big that it arrives to your table in a frying pan. Quality is not substituted for size though. Ingredients are top notch. Founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott are serious about their meat. That’s why they work with small farms around Britain who focus on raising their cattle to a specified standard.  This shows in the food across all of their restaurants. They aim to provide the best English breakfasts in London. You’d be hard pressed to argue. Full review here

Regency Cafe in Westminster is all about the simple things done right. A traditional British cafe that has been around since the 1940’s. So popular that the queue often goes out the door. It’s been used as a filming location many times, but it’s the quality food at good honest prices that make it a real contender for the best English breakfasts in London. Your typical British builders cafe done just right. Full review here.

3. E Pellicci

Address: 332 Bethnal Green Rd, London, E2 0AG

Cost: £ (Cash Only)

Must try dish: Classic Set with bubble and squeak

We couldn’t create a list of the best English breakfasts in London without featuring the classic East End landmark E Pellicci in Bethnal Green. Opened by Italian immigrants in 1900 and still owned by the same family today, who make everyone feel welcome. This art deco cafe was the favourite of the Kray twins in the 1960’s, and it’s easy to see why it would be any ones favourite. As well as Italian dishes they serve a pretty huge authentic English breakfast, with quality ingredients, and extras like bubble & squeak (a typical East London mix of fried left over vegetables like potatoes and cabbage). Also, famous food blogger Mark Wiens visited the cafe in his 2014 London video.

4. Dishoom

Cost: ££

Must try dish: Sausage naan roll

Our next best English breakfasts in London is actually at Dishoom, a small group of Indian restaurants. Based on the old Irani cafés of Bombay in the 19th century. They serve curries, sheek kebabs and a large selection of other dishes like a vada pau, which is a sort of chip butty with spicy masala. However, they have a full and exciting breakfast menu, including The Big Bombay, which has your usual English breakfast ingredients, but with additional Indian flavours. On top of that, they have naan rolls with top quality sausages, eggs and bacon. Full review here.

5. Beppe's Cafe

Address: 23 W Smithfield, London, EC1A 9HY

Cost: £

Must try dish: Bacon, egg, sausage and hash browns

Visit Website

Beppe’s Cafe, located close to the famous Smithfield Meat Market, is a family run business that first opened in 1932. A classic cafe that has been used in various TV and film productions over the years. However, it’s the quality of the ingredients, like the apple sausages from the local butchers round the corner, that make this one of the best English breakfasts in London.

6. The Breakfast Club

Address: Spitalfields, 12-16 Artillery Ln, London E1 7LS

Cost: ££

Must try dish: The Greasy Spoon (2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 hash brown, 2 eggs, toast & baked beans)

Other locations: Soho x 2, Hoxton, Canary Wharf, Battersea Rise, Hackney Wick, London Bridge, Croydon

The Breakfast Club, which has a number of venues across the capital, was started by 2 childhood friends from Yorkshire. It’s a place where you can get amazing comfort food, including one of the best English breakfasts in London. What’s great about their breakfast is that it doesn’t feel greasy. It’s not huge, but it fills you up. And I have to say the quality of the sausages beats all the others on this list. They profess not to be ‘cool’, but ask the majority of customers queueing to get in and we’re sure they’ll tell you this is one of the trendiest English breakfast spots in London.

7. Smithfield Cafe

Address: 59 Long Ln, Barbican, London, EC1A 9EJ

Cost: £

Must try dish: Egg, bacon, sausage, beans and bread & butter

Smithfield Cafe is located even closer to Smithfield Market, right opposite in fact. It hasn’t made our list of the best English breakfasts in London due to the ingredients, there’s no specialty sausages used here. This is a cheap and cheerful typical London cafe, that seats about 14 people, where you can get a proper fried breakfast for around £6. Plus, it’s open 24 hours a day. Handy if you’ve missed the last train home or you’re in need of some greasy food after a night out.
