Circus Themed Cocktail Bar in Barcelona
Just off La Rambla is Somnia, a cocktail bar in Barcelona. An amusing circus themed venue with dark red interior and balloons on the ceiling.
There’s seating in the main bar area, upstairs which is designed like a carousel, or downstairs, passed the thick steel door and into the vault!
How about a free sorbet shot on arrival?
With the menu being 76 pages long, it’s a good job they bring you a free sorbet shot and a box of popcorn while you decide.
Themed Cocktails
Cocktails here are inventive and fun. Take the pennywise that comes in a mug modelled on the scary clown’s face with a helium red balloon attached.
Or for gin lovers, the Banksy, adorned with his famous picture of girl with balloons on top. You can see there’s a balloon theme going on here.
All cocktails arrive to your table in some different form. Be that with coloured flashing lights inside or within a monkey’s head! The glass in the shape of a fish within a giant fishbowl of water and nitrogen has to be the most impressive though.
Prices are good. Expect to pay between €9 – €13 each drink. The music selection is good too. Lots of remixes and modern versions of classic tunes through the decades.
Cocktails aren’t the only thing on the menu. A long list of whiskies, rums, gins and vodkas. And even Don Julio 1942, the Dom Perignon of tequila. Which doesn’t come in cheap, €20 per 25cl shot, or €40 per 50cl shot if you’re really pushing the boat out.
Somnia is a great addition to the nightlife of Barcelona because it’s fun, different and has great drinks at good prices. What’s not to love?
